The 2024 LDC U.S. Latinos in Tech Report: AI™, produced by the Latino Donor Collaborative (LDC) in partnership with Conectado Inc. and Wells Fargo, underscores the vital role of the Latino community in advancing artificial intelligence (AI) and shaping the future of technology. About the 2024 Report

This year’s report, accessible on the Latino Donor Collaborative website, thoroughly examines how Latinos are seizing AI-driven opportunities, pushing technological boundaries, and contributing significantly to the U.S. economy and workforce. It outlines how Latinos are using AI to foster innovation, enhance workforce capabilities, and unlock new avenues for economic growth.

Key Findings of the 2024 Report

  1. Latinos Leading AI Adoption: Latino-owned businesses are adopting AI technologies at twice the rate of white-owned businesses. 14% of Latino-owned businesses are integrating AI technologies compared to 7% of white-owned counterparts.
  2. Workforce Growth: Between 2018 and 2022, the Latino presence in technical AI roles grew from 48.7% to 58.7%, significantly outpacing overall workforce growth​. Latinos now make up 9.1% to 10% of technical roles​.
  3. Educational Engagement: Latino youth are increasingly engaging with AI. 54% of Latino youth use AI to gather information compared to 41% of their white peers. Furthermore, 27% of Latino youth use AI to make music, significantly outpacing their white counterparts.
  4. Economic Impact: The Latino community is strategically located in key U.S. tech hubs and plays a critical role in industries like semiconductors and data centers. The growing participation of Latinos in AI-related roles is expected to contribute to the U.S. economy significantly, with AI projected to add $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030​.
  5. Private Sector Investments: Investment in generative AI surged eightfold between 2022 and 2024, with $25.2 billion invested in AI initiatives. This massive investment reflects strong confidence in the future of AI and the growing role of Latinos within this sector​.
